Melissa Thorne, LMHP, PLADC

 Melissa was born and raised in Lincoln Nebraska. She acquired her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska, majoring in Psychology with a Sociology and Communication minor. Melissa completed her graduate degree at Doane University with a Master’s of Arts in Counseling.

She works with individuals experiencing a variety of mental health concerns as well as substance use disorders. Melissa has been trained in EMDR therapy, which is a highly effective treatment approach that has great success in reducing symptoms of trauma.

Melissa believes that the therapeutic process should be a holistic journey towards empowerment and achieving, as well as sustaining a meaningful life. She employs an integrative approach to therapy were consideration is given to what is needed for best results in the collaborated process. 

Melissa’s therapeutic interventions are most often based from the following methodologies: Motivational Interviewing, Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy and Existential Therapy.
