The law protects the confidentiality of all communications between a client and their therapist. Information about your care cannot be shared without your written consent, except as required by law.
Exceptions include:
- Suspected abuse or neglect of a child, dependent adult, or vulnerable adult — we are mandated by law to report this to the proper authorities.
- Serious threats of harm to another person — we are required to take protective action, which may include notifying law enforcement or the intended victim.
- Risk of self-harm — we will take all reasonable steps to ensure your safety, which may include contacting emergency services or designated supports if necessary.
These exceptions are outlined in detail in our full Notice of Privacy Practices, which explains how Daring Minds Therapy protects your personal health information in accordance with federal and Nebraska law.
